Idaho Congressman Walt Minnick finally comes clean about his vote against peace in Thailand.
Noted here as "perhaps the strangest vote of his term and in what [could] easily be described as Sali-esque," back in July Minnick was one of only four House members to vote against a resolution supporting peace efforts in Thailand.
Well, now we know the rest of the story, thanks to The Hill.
Rep. Walt Minnick (D-Idaho) remembers one of his freshman-term bloopers with an embarrassed grin.
He got so sidetracked talking with reporters in the House Speaker’s Lobby that he nearly missed a vote.
Realizing how tardy he was, he bolted through the doors to the House floor, plunged his voting card into the “nay” slot, and returned to the Speaker’s Lobby to finish his conversation with the media.
The only problem: He hadn’t voted on the bill he thought he had. Minnick had unwittingly voted against a resolution expressing Congress’s support for peace in Thailand.
“I thought I was voting on something else,” he said. “That’s a rookie mistake. I didn’t check to see what I was voting on.”
Are you kidding me?! He didn't have a clue what he was voting "nay" on because he was too busy talking to reporters?!
I do believe this confirms that Idaho's 1st District is indeed cursed.
He didn't bother to look up to see what the hell he was voting for? This isn't a blooper, it's irresponsibility on display.

It's a pretty amusing article, especially Walt's comments about using the congressional gym.
