So far there hasn't been a District 11 Democrat step forward to take on Rep. Steve Thayn of Emmett but Republican challenger Matt Beebe is continuing to make waves during his final months as Canyon County Commissioner.
Caldwell Guardian writes about attending a Caldwell Chamber of Commerce meeting where Matt Beebe was also in attendance discussing the status of the jail situation:
The choice you are going to get is to spend a ton more money or walk away from the $12 million they blew on a metal building and public sewer and water lines to this boondoggle. Mr. Beebe said he didn't care what happens as he was not running for his seat again. He even invited THE GUARDIAN to run for his seat. NICE! create a mess and have others clean up the slop..what is he thinking when it comes to the folks paying the bills for this county?
Commissioner Matt Beebe was in attendance at this meeting and he very pointedly emphasized that they have done nothing illegal and that they get paid to make these decisions and that they were going to spend that $12 million without any inputs from you or anyone else. He reaffirmed that the Commishes are the "DECIDERS" and people get out of the way on this matter.
Rumor has it that Beebe may have higher aspirations than just representing District 11 in the state legislature next year. At this point though, it's not clear that he could even unseat the very unpopular first-termer, Rep. Thayn, although the district's make-up, a small portion of Canyon County with the balance from Gem County, ought to help.
Unless a Democrat steps forward giving voters an alternative for the general election, it seems District 11 voters will be left with an impossible choice in this May's GOP primary.
Glad you're back, MG!

Writing a e-mail to John Foster , Idaho Democrats, his response was , "we have someone running in district 11 why do you ask?"
I guess my reaction would be, Hey John why do you keep it a secret?
Maybe when you go to vote and see a democrat running in your district, a very interesting surprise.

I had also heard that there was someone running but have yet to hear a name. I was hoping we would have by now but I'm sure they've got their reasons for waiting.
