Idaho Congressman Walt Minnick is one of the targets of the recently announced "Votes Have Consequences" project put out by the conservative, anti-abortion women's political group, the Susan B. Anthony List. The project is "an effort to educate citizens about the voting records of legislators who are out of step with their districts."
From Politico:
Minnick is an interesting inclusion on the list, given that he’s held one of the most conservative voting records for a freshman Democrat -- a necessity given that he’s representing a conservative Idaho district that John McCain handily carried.
But he’s also taken campaign money from abortion rights groups and is one of the most vulnerable Democrats up for re-election, making him a natural target for the organization.
With Walt's voting record you'd think that anything short of actually performing abortions would have kept him off this list. Plus he's indicated his opposition to the health care reform bill that currently has the group distraught. Just goes to show that no matter the pandering, no matter how many times Walt yips "fiscal conservative," he's just never going to win over Bill Sali's base.

I agree. In the voting booth, that (D) will trump all. At least in Idaho, it's almost always a campaign coup de grace.

Minnick is and always has been a Republican. His Facebook page profile lists him as a "conservative." The Idaho Dems used "spoiler" scare tactics to destroy the only growing progressive party in Idaho- the Green Party. Progressives are starting to rethink that again...they want them back. Health care is a signature HUMAN RIGHTS issue, and Minnick is helping the Repubs torpedo it. Minnick says he's a fiscal conservative. Oh really? Idaho receives 7 dollars in federal funds for every 1 it send to D.C. If this state is so libertarian, why does it not send back all that gubmint largesse. It's going to INEL and ranchers, BigAg, USAF, National Guard and assistance to big businesses like Micron and Hewlett Packard. Without the Federal Gubmint, there would be no capitalism in the USA. The Nanny State keeps everything going. Those are the facts, pure and simple, except we live in this bubble that projects a "free market" fraud with "invisible hands." Wake up people. Demand the government you expect and pay for!

" Don't let WALT fool ya either...
HE is )))) PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRAT (((( ...
Why is WALT involved with and supporting this corrupt regime both in the White House and congress? THE DEMS ! !
Walt needs to become at least an INDEPENDENT.
Walt makes NO effort to question why there are Marxist and real Communists in the White House and take a stand against this tyranny. He never questions the Constitutionality of anything going on there in DC.
Also LET IT BE KNOWN the WALT VOTED YEH for
))) NANCY PELOSI ((( as Speaker of the House. All House Dems voted YEH for her!!
Walt is actually part of the problem and offers NO real solutions. By NOT representing the vast number of conservative constituents in his district against this radical takeover of our REPUBLIC by the OBAMA-PELOSI-REED Left. ))))) WAKE UP SLEEPY WALT!!! We hear you snoring (((( "

I do think that Walt is part of the problem and is not offering any solutions of his own, but I highly doubt his vote for Pelosi as Speaker of the House means anything. He votes against Pelosi's legislative goals and many of the fully Democratic bills, so voting for her initially means very little.
If the previous commenter really wants Walt to become an independent that would mean he'd have to come back toward the center from the right where he has firmly planted himself.
